Surgical Review Corporation's Clinical Trials program will offer a centralized, streamlined process for
implementing bariatric surgery clinical trials at Bariatric Surgery Centers of Excellence® (BSCOE) and Freestanding
Outpatient Bariatric Surgery Centers of Excellence (FBSCOE) facilities. This program will work
to identify clinical trial opportunities for consideration by program participants.
To ensure the validity of these projects, the Research Advisory
Committee (RAC) represents a panel of bariatric surgery experts available to consult on
various stages of the clinical trial process. The RAC will set the policies and standards for clinical trial
initiatives. SRC's Bariatric Outcomes Longitudinal Database™
will provide a vehicle for collecting and evaluating data on clinical trial outcomes. All trials will conform with accepted rules for integrity of
research with approval from appropriate Institutional Review Board.
Clinical Trials ultimately will be an important part of the SRC
Research Division, especially as new pharmaceutical agents become available for investigation. SRC will be in an excellent
position by virtue of the experience of its current research staff and power of BOLD™ to take the lead in the execution
of these studies.
